Traffic Advisory Issued for IPL Match at Ekana Stadium on April 22

Lucknow: The Lucknow Traffic Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League match scheduled at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 22, 2026. The match will begin at 7:30 PM, and special traffic arrangements will be enforced from 3:00 PM until the conclusion of the game.

Restrictions on Heavy and Commercial Vehicles

During match hours, roadways buses, private buses, and all commercial vehicles will be prohibited from plying on Shaheed Path. However, alternative routes will remain open. Vehicles coming via Sultanpur Road will be diverted from Amul Tiraha, while those from Arjunganj side will be rerouted via Katai Pul. Authorities have directed private bus operators to strictly follow the diversion plan issued by roadways.

City Bus Operations

City buses will continue to operate but will not stop between Husadiya and Sushant Golf City on Shaheed Path. These buses will run along the right side of the road to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Restrictions on Autos and E-Rickshaws

E-rickshaws and auto-rickshaws will be completely restricted on Shaheed Path and even on its service lanes during the match.

  • Vehicles coming from Arjunganj will divert from Ahimamau towards PHQ, UP 112 headquarters, and nearby roads for passenger drop-off.
  • Those arriving via Sultanpur Road will drop passengers near Lulu Mall.
  • No pick-up or drop-off will be allowed within a 500-metre radius of Ahimamau.

Ola, Uber and Taxi Services

App-based cabs such as Ola and Uber will follow similar restrictions as city buses.

  • No boarding or deboarding will be allowed between Husadiya and Sushant Golf City on Shaheed Path.
  • Vehicles from the airport side must drop passengers before Ahimamau.
  • From Arjunganj side, cabs will divert via PHQ routes and proceed towards Gomti Nagar through G-20 Tiraha.

Parking Arrangements for Private Vehicles

Private vehicles with valid passes will be routed from Ahimamau towards HCL and then to designated parking areas via Water Tank Tiraha and Palassio Mall.
Vehicles without passes will also follow the same route, with initial parking allotted at Palassio Mall. Once full, additional parking will be arranged along the stretch between HCL and Water Tank Tiraha.

Two-wheelers will be directed to park behind Palassio Mall via the HCL route.

Additional Guidelines

  • No parking will be allowed near the stadium or in front of Palassio Mall; violations will attract towing and clamping.
  • A QR code on match tickets will provide parking details with maps.
  • Only ticket holders will be allowed entry inside the stadium; unauthorized entry will invite strict action.
  • Entry will open three hours before the match and close midway through the second innings. Re-entry will not be permitted.
  • Temporary pick-and-drop points will be set up near PHQ and UP-112 headquarters.
  • Items such as coins, earphones, and inflammable materials are strictly prohibited as per ICC/BCCI guidelines.

Advisory for Residents and Spectators

Residents living near the stadium have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel towards the venue. Spectators are encouraged to plan their arrival outside peak hours (6:00 PM to 8:00 PM) to avoid congestion.

The advisory aims to ensure smooth traffic management and public safety during the high-profile IPL match in the city.
